The group strives to create a balance between human activity, environment and economic activity; this has been at the heart of their approach from the outset. This commitment brought the WWF to sign a unique partnership agreement with Unima in favour of sustainable development. . Fishermen of excellence, shrimp of exception... Today, the leading wholesalers of seafood, as well as specialty restaurants and retail distributors greatly value Unima products. The Group produces the respected “Ikizukuri” shrimp for consumption in the ‘raw’ form in the Japanese market. Regular tests, performed by a consumer panel, confirm the superior taste of Label Rouge shrimp, namely their flavour , crunchiness and firm texture.
Shrimp are one of the rare foods that are naturally high in protein and low in fat. They are a source of vitamins, phosphorous and iodine. They contain proteins of excellent nutritional quality, including Omega 3, which is essential for the body.
The result of the group’s meticulous approach to farming is seen in the Label Rouge Shrimp that have wholesome physical integrity to the very tips of their antennae.
Aquaculture, the natural way... Unima has opted for a low density stocking model of 5 to 10 shrimp per square metre, instead of intensive farming with over 100 shrimp. This model guarantees a sustainable production of high quality shrimp. The farm of the Group, spread over 700 hectares of natural clay soil, produces over 2,500 tons of shrimp annually.
High quality food... The shrimp get their food partly from their natural environment and the rest from a supply of strictly controlled nutrients of plant and marine origin produced by the Group. Medicinal additives as well as meal containing GM or terrestrial animal ingredients are strictly prohibited on Unima farms.
The ultimate freshness... On the farm, ensuring highest degree of freshness is our passion. This is achieved by maintaining special cold chain technology all through the process. The individual quick frozen shrimp are strictly controlled at each step until they reach the retailer shops.
Consumer inspection and source traceability... Traceability is a vital element of the Label Rouge quality guarantee. The group has developed a fully integrated shrimp production which includes domesticated brood stock, hatchery, farming, processing, cooking (freshly cooked whole shrimp), distribution and a feed mill. Thus Unima can guarantee the perfect traceability and quality of its products down to its retail distributors all under own supervision.
Traditional cooking... They are cooked in a simple and natural way, just in boiling water, with no added colourings.
